Was this perhaps the ancient name of Vermogno? Could be! Instead, it is certain that this place has been inhabited for more than 2000 years, at least since the Romans began the exploitation of the largest gold mine of antiquity, the Bessa. The precious metal is linked to the life of Vermogno, which is also made up of nature, as well as history, community and archeology. Today Vermogno is a prolific ecosystem, where those who find themselves living, staying or just passing through can do so slowly, at their own pace and in harmony with the surrounding environment

Living in Vermogno

Quick and easy to reach from the main cities and airports, Vermogno is also close to the main services and sports, tourist and cultural activities. But what is found in the village surprises and fascinates even more. A dynamic community and 4 associations active in different fields and which allow the inhabitants, even just for one day, to feel not only spectators but creators.

Community

Four associations active in the village: EGDA, which brings botany into the kitchen, ECOMUSEO, which recovers, protects and passes on the traditions of places and communities, CERCATORI D’ORO (Gold prospectors), to feel like in the Klondike and VERMOGNO VIVE, which is the beating heart.

The good food

Around Vermogno you can find the best products of the land and for those who want to try growing their own crops, there is space to do so. Experience the incomparable flavor of a dish prepared with what has been grown or bartered with neighbours.

Working, surrounded by nature

Well connected to the network yet surrounded by nature. Outside the city, yet very close to it. Biella and Ivrea are fifteen minutes away, Milan and Turin just one hour. Malpensa and Caselle airports are one hour from Vermogno. And when you have finished working, at sunset you can also have unexpected encounters.

Community oven

The ancient oven has been restored and it is a meeting point during the events organized by the associations: hundreds of people on the occasion of the lighting, to taste pizzas and focaccias, prepared with flour from the mills in the area.

Tourism

Vermogno is a convenient starting point for excursions in Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta and Lombardy. In a few minutes you can reach Biella and the wool valleys, Ivrea, a Unesco city, the Serra, Canavese and Lake Viverone. In an hour you can reach Turin and Monferrato, Milan and Lake Maggiore.

Sport

The Elvo valley, the Serra and the Canavese offer unlimited possibilities for walking and cycling. A few minutes from Vermogno there are three golf clubs and several equestrian centres. In the winter season you can quickly reach the ski slopes of the Biella area and the Aosta Valley.

Borgodoro project

Borgodoro was born from the desire to recover the ancient houses of Vermogno, to contribute to its repopulation and to the development of accommodations and innovative economic activities. We are convinced that the objectives we have set ourselves cannot be achieved without a positive impact on the community, therefore Borgodoro was born as a Benefit Company.
